When the young waitress Emma arrived for her evening shift with her five-month-old daughter in her arms, the restaurant manager immediately frowned.
— Emma, we’ve already talked about this. This is a high-end restaurant, not a daycare.
— I know. I’m sorry. The babysitter didn’t show up today, and I have no one to leave Sofia with. She’ll be good, I promise.
Emma desperately needed this job. After the child’s father disappeared while she was still pregnant, the young woman found herself completely alone. Almost all of her salary went toward the rent for her small apartment, baby formula, diapers, and bills.
The manager let out a long sigh.
— Just for today. And if any of the customers complain, there won’t be anything I can do.
Emma thanked him, placed her daughter in a baby carrier against her chest, and began working.
For the first two hours, everything went smoothly. Sofia slept almost the entire time, and the customers only occasionally cast surprised glances at the unusual waitress.
But around nine o’clock in the evening, the atmosphere in the restaurant suddenly changed.
Three men in black suits appeared at the entrance, followed by a tall man in his forties. His name was Marco.
Emma had never seen him before, but the other employees recognized him immediately.
Terrible rumors circulated throughout the city about Marco. People said he controlled several underground establishments, and that those who had ever dared to get in his way would later prefer to leave the city.
Usually, Marco always sat at the same table, and only the manager attended to him. But that evening, the restaurant was packed.
“Take him his wine,” the manager whispered to Emma.
“Why me?”

“Because the others are busy. Just be careful.”
Emma picked up a bottle of fine red wine and headed toward the table.
At that moment, Sofia suddenly woke up and began squirming in her baby carrier.
Emma tried to hold her daughter with one hand while pouring the wine with the other.
And suddenly, the little girl gave a strong kick.
The glass tipped over.
The red wine spilled directly onto Marco’s white shirt.
The restaurant became so silent that the music coming from the kitchen could be heard clearly.
Emma went pale.
Marco’s bodyguards immediately stood up.
“I’m sorry… I’m really sorry,” the young woman stammered. “I’ll clean everything up right away.”
The manager was already rushing toward the table.
“Mr. Marco, I’ll fire her immediately. She’ll never set foot in this restaurant again.”
But at that moment, the man did something that left the entire restaurant completely stunned. 😳😱
The man didn’t even look at his stained shirt. He was looking at the baby.
Sofia was staring back at him with her big eyes.
Then, suddenly, the little girl smiled.
Marco slowly reached out his hand.
Emma instinctively stepped back.
“Don’t be afraid,” he said calmly. “What’s her name?”
“Sofia.”
“How old is she?”
“Five months.”
The man remained silent for a few seconds.
Then, completely unexpectedly, he stood up.
“Give her to me.”
“What…?”
“The baby.”
Emma looked at the bodyguards nervously, but they seemed just as bewildered as she was.
Marco gently took Sofia into his arms.
The little girl squirmed slightly, grabbed the man’s finger, and smiled at him again.
And that was when the most dangerous man in the city said something no one expected to hear.
“Go on, work. I’ll stay with her.”
The manager was left speechless.
“Mr. Marco…”
“She has a dining room full of customers,” the man interrupted. “Do you want her carrying plates while holding her baby?”
For the next forty minutes, the restaurant witnessed a completely unbelievable scene.
Emma took orders and served dishes while Marco remained seated at his table, holding five-month-old Sofia in his arms.
His bodyguards avoided looking at each other so they wouldn’t burst out laughing.

At one point, Sofia grabbed the collar of Marco’s still wine-stained shirt and then fell asleep right against his chest.
When the shift ended, Emma approached to take her daughter back.
“Thank you. I don’t even know how to thank you.”
Marco gently handed the baby back to her.
“Just make sure you don’t bring her to work anymore.”
Emma lowered her eyes.
“Then I’ll have to quit. A babysitter costs almost as much as I earn.”
The man said nothing.
Emma thought the conversation was over, said goodbye, and went home.
But the next morning, the manager suddenly called her and asked her to come to the restaurant immediately.
Emma was certain she was finally going to be fired.
But when she entered the restaurant, she saw workers clearing out a large room next to the kitchen.
“What’s going on?” the young woman asked, stunned.
The manager silently handed her an envelope.
Inside was a short message:
“Sofia no longer belongs here, among trays and hot dishes.”
It turned out that during the night, Marco had bought the premises next to the restaurant and ordered a small, free childcare room to be set up for the employees’ children.
Marco continued coming to the restaurant every Thursday at exactly seven o’clock in the evening. He always sat at the same table and always ordered the same dinner.
But now, before even opening the menu, the most feared mobster in the city always asked the waitress one question:
“Is Sofia here today?”
And if the little girl was in the children’s room, a few minutes later, the feared mobster would already be sitting on a tiny child-sized chair while Sofia tried to take off his expensive watch.
And his bodyguards would silently wait behind the door.
