At the zoo, a gorilla suddenly lunged at a man in a wheelchair, grabbed the handles of his chair, and refused to let go. The zoo staff tried to rescue him, but then something completely unexpected happened.
The man often spent time at the zoo. Long ago, before the accident, when he could still walk, he had worked there as a caretaker and loved the animals — and the animals loved him too.

Even after his retirement, he continued to come almost every Saturday: he would linger in front of the enclosures, watching the animals eat, play, and squabble — and he felt part of the place once again.
That day, everything seemed normal, until something no one could have imagined occurred. The man in the wheelchair was near the monkey and gorilla enclosure, observing them. Suddenly, a female gorilla approached the wall where the old man was standing, looked at him, and then suddenly grabbed the handles of his wheelchair. The gorilla pulled the chair toward her.

The staff and visitors, panicking, rushed over, trying to pull the wheelchair back, shouting, calling security — but their strength was not enough. The gorilla was far too powerful.

In an instant, she pulled the man toward her, lifted him along with his wheelchair, and gently placed him inside her enclosure.

Someone shouted:
“Quick! A tranquilizer! There’s a man in the gorilla enclosure!”

The crowd gathered around, holding their breath. The man did not move, fully aware of the danger posed by gorillas, convinced that this day would end in tragedy. He remained seated, incredulous, unable to believe what was happening. But suddenly, the gorilla did something no one could have predicted.

Instead of attacking, the gorilla did something incredible — she gently approached the old man, carefully embraced him, held him close, and began rocking him tenderly, like a child.
The caretakers were frozen in place. The spectators stopped shouting. In the silence that followed, someone whispered

“She remembers him.”
The gorilla held the man with infinite gentleness, as if he were her own little one. Then, just as calmly, she placed him back in his wheelchair and nudged him toward the barrier. The staff rushed over, took him, and moved him safely away from the enclosure.
He remained silent, but his face said it all: he had recognized her. It was the same gorilla he had raised and saved many years ago.
