I was walking peacefully along a country road, unsuspecting, when I caught sight of something strange out of the corner of my eye. It was gray, a bit flattened, with spiral folds.
Curiosity got the better of me — I gently touched it with a stick to take a closer look. Inside — lots of small sections, like a brain cut in half. The texture — rubbery. Horrible.
Honestly, I felt nauseous. I thought, “What if it’s a brain? An animal’s? Or worse… a human’s?” My heart was pounding.
Overcome with panic and confusion, I took a photo and posted it online with this caption:
“What is this? I found it by the side of the road. It looks like a brain. Should I call the police?”
Comments flooded in immediately. Some thought it was a mushroom. Others guessed it was organs from a wild animal. But one woman — who clearly had several dogs — gave a simple and irrefutable answer:
“You found dog poop and opened it up. The dog ate lots of tissues. They don’t digest — so they come out looking like this awful thing.”
I felt both ashamed and amused. Ashamed for having such a wild imagination. And I laughed — because I almost called the police over a dog poop filled with tissues.
