This morning, I was watering the flowers in the yard when I suddenly noticed near the fence two strange cocoons covered with thick, broad scales… and it even seemed to me that something inside was slightly moving… When I discovered this, I was completely shocked… 😱😱
I approached, but I didn’t dare to touch them — they really seemed alive, as if they could change at any moment.
My first thought was that they were snakes curled up into a ball. Then I thought they might be turtles without shells, or even something completely extraterrestrial that had absolutely no place in my garden.

I was almost about to call the neighbor to look at them with me when suddenly one of the “spheres” slightly trembled.
I quickly stepped back, my heart literally dropped into my stomach. And that was when I began to understand what it might be… 😐😨😨 Details are in the first comment 👇👇
Both spheres slowly began to open, very carefully. From inside appeared a small snout with tiny eyes and a long nose.
I stood there, unable to move, simply watching the scene. They were pangolins — rare living creatures, covered in a shiny armor, as if they had come from another world. One of them gently stretched its tongue toward an anthill, while the other searched for something among the leaves.

They moved with astonishing calm and grace, as if they knew perfectly well that they were in no danger here. A few minutes later, they curled back into tight balls and remained motionless — like real statues.
I stayed there for a long time, unable to look away, realizing that I had accidentally witnessed something truly incredible — in my own garden, two of the rarest creatures on the planet were hiding.
True living pangolins — extremely rare mammals, covered in hard keratin scales like a real suit of armor. They are completely harmless, do not bite, and do not attack. At the slightest danger, they simply curl up into a ball to fully protect themselves.

These animals are often called “scaled anteaters” — they feed on ants and termites, helping to maintain the fragile balance of nature.
The only real danger to pangolins is humans: they are poached for their scales and meat.
I watched them slowly disappear behind the fence, leaving behind only the silent rustling of the grass. 😐😐😐
