My mother-in-law was constantly touching my things and forcing her own rules in my house, while my husband always took her side. Then an idea came to me about how to put this shameless woman in her place once and for all 😢🫣
Ljudmila always said that the house was her territory. A place where everything was exactly the way she decided. Where the spices were in the right jars, where knives didn’t get dull, and where no one scrubbed pots with a metal sponge.
Her husband, Sergey, was a kind man, but too weak when it came to his mother, Valentina Ivanovna.
— She just wants to help, — Sergey repeated every time Ljudmila found jars moved around and food thrown away.
But this “help” had a strange form. Soy sauce and truffle purée disappeared from the refrigerator because they “smelled suspicious.” A new frying pan became covered with scratches. And once a black stain appeared on the bottom of an expensive enamel pot.
Valentina Ivanovna lived in the neighboring district and had a copy of the keys “for emergencies.” But that emergency happened quite often — and always when the owners weren’t home.
She opened the cabinets, rummaged through the shelves, and in the evening would say with satisfaction:
— I tidied up a little at your place. Threw away the old things. I also cooked some soup.
Ljudmila pressed her lips together and stayed silent, while Sergey timidly asked his mother to be more careful.
The turning point came on Sergey’s birthday. Ljudmila prepared a romantic dinner: she bought seafood and good wine and wanted to spend the evening alone with him.
When she returned home earlier than usual, she saw a small feast in the kitchen. At the table sat Valentina Ivanovna and her friends. On the plates were the same shrimp, and in the middle of the table stood an empty wine bottle.
— We decided to surprise you, — the mother-in-law said cheerfully. — I baked your seafood with mayonnaise. It’s more filling that way.
Ljudmila silently looked at the empty plates and realized that her patience had run out. And she did something after which her mother-in-law not only stopped interfering with her things — she even became afraid to come to their house 😱😂
The next day she calmly announced that she was going on a business trip for three days. Sergey would be on duty. Someone could come and take care of the house. In the cabinet she left a jar of “cleansing jam” and a bottle of syrup.
Valentina Ivanovna always believed in folk remedies and “detox.” A note said the remedy was beneficial, but it was important to follow the dosage.
Ljudmila knew no one would follow the dosage.
When she returned, Sergey greeted her with a confused expression.
— Something strange happened to my mother, — he said quietly.
Valentina Ivanovna decided to complete the entire “treatment” in one day. She ate almost the whole jar and drank a double dose of the syrup.
The result was too intense.
One of the ingredients dyed her tongue a bright blue. When Valentina Ivanovna saw herself in the mirror, she got so frightened that she called her husband, Ivan Petrovich, and demanded he come immediately.
When it turned out that it was only a reaction caused by an excessive dose, the fear turned into resentment.
— Ljudmila tried to poison me, — she fumed.
— There were instructions on the jar, — Ljudmila replied calmly. — And it was in a closed cabinet. I didn’t ask anyone to try it.
Ivan Petrovich looked silently at his wife. He knew perfectly well about her habit of opening other people’s cabinets.
That same evening they returned the spare key to Ljudmila.
After that, Valentina Ivanovna never came without warning again. The refrigerator remained untouched, and so did the dishes.
And peace returned to Ljudmila’s home.
