A man found an old worn-out armchair in a dump and brought it home. When he opened the armchair and saw what was inside, everyone was shocked.

The old man had a habit — every morning, he would walk past the garbage containers. He said it was how ‘the day starts well.’ But in reality, he also enjoyed checking if someone had thrown away something useful.
Over the years, he had found old lamps, chairs, and even small cabinets, which he would then repair with his own hands.
That day, he was walking as usual when he noticed, near the large garbage bins, an old worn-out armchair. It was quite heavy and dusty, the fabric was torn in places, but the frame seemed sturdy.
He approached it, walked around it several times, placed his hand on the wood, and thought:
— I’ll repair it a little — and it can still be useful.
Since the armchair was quite heavy, he had to drag it for a long time and slowly roll it to his house. Along the way, several neighbors saw him and asked in surprise:
— Why do you need it? Why are you taking such an old thing?
He replied with a smile:
— The old can always become new.

At home, his wife first looked at him with displeasure.
— You brought something from the trash again? — she said.
But the man had already started working. He turned the armchair over, took his tools, and began dismantling the wooden part of the seat to see what condition it was in inside.
At one point, he lifted the wooden seat with a screwdriver…
and what he saw inside shocked them both.
His eyes widened, and his breath seemed to stop.
Inside the armchair, in a secret wooden compartment, thick bundles of banknotes were carefully arranged. They were stacked on top of each other and placed side by side. Green, red, and variously colored bills, neatly secured with rubber bands.
The man stood for a few seconds, staring, unable to believe what he was seeing.
— Come and see… — he whispered to his wife.
His wife approached, looked inside, and immediately covered her mouth with her hand.

The armchair’s secret compartment was filled with an enormous sum of money. Dozens of bundles were there — so many that the entire wooden space was completely full. It seemed as if someone had been hiding money there for years, without telling anyone.
