A woman couldn’t calm her grandchildren: she refused to hand them over to their mother until a flight attendant intervened and said something that left her with no choice but to comply.

My last flight was unforgettable—but not in a good way. We were already on the plane, ten minutes before takeoff. It was going to be a fairly long flight, and I was hoping everything would go smoothly.

In front of me sat a woman with her grandchildren—nine-month-old twins. Right after takeoff, one of the babies started crying, but that was only the beginning. The other baby quickly joined in.

The woman tried everything to calm them: rocking them, speaking to them gently, but nothing worked. The children’s mother was sitting nearby, but what was most surprising was that the woman flatly refused to hand the babies over to their mother.

“I can take care of my grandchildren,” she insisted.

The babies’ piercing cries irritated all the passengers, but no one dared to intervene. I put on my headphones, but even that didn’t help.

Then a flight attendant stepped in and said something that made the woman hand the children over to their mother, who calmed them in a matter of seconds.

The flight attendant approached the woman with a professional smile and said, “Ma’am, you know babies can sense adult stress, and their mother is the one who calms them best. I’m sure that if you hand them over, you’ll be able to relax and enjoy the flight too.”

The woman, though surprised by the intervention, seemed to hesitate for a moment.

In the end, she gave in.

She turned to her daughter-in-law and handed over the babies, who were calm in their mother’s arms within seconds.

A soothing silence settled over the cabin, and the flight attendant, satisfied, returned to her seat.
