This morning I went out to the garden, just to water the flowers and check if the cats had knocked over the sand, as usual. But as soon as I opened the gate, a horrible smell hit me. It tightened my chest and gave me a metallic taste in my mouth.
I took a few steps and froze. Something was moving on the ground, next to the flowerbed. 🫣
In the garden, I found a slimy, reddish creature that gave off a nauseating smell: I was horrified when I realized what it was.
In front of me lay something slimy and reddish, as if it were upside down. It smelled like rotten meat, as if someone had hidden a dead animal nearby. I even stepped back; my heart was pounding, and the most terrifying thoughts flooded my mind.
“What is this? A worm? A strange creature? The remains of an alien?” — I couldn’t understand it. 😲

I grabbed my phone, took a photo, and, grimacing in pain from the smell, searched for answers on the internet.
When I searched for “red slimy, rotten smell,” the search engine gave me a very unpleasant and strange result. I was horrified when I realized what it was. 😨😱 To be continued in the first comment 👇👇
I found a slimy, reddish creature in my garden that gave off a foul smell. I was horrified when I realized what it was.
The first result was the title:
“Anthurus archeri – an alien fungus known as the devil’s fingers.”
It turns out this fungus really exists. It is native to Australia and Tasmania, but over time it has spread throughout the world.
At first, it looks like a white egg, but soon red tentacles appear, like claws or fingers.
These tentacles are covered in slime and emit a terrible carrion smell to attract flies, which carry its spores.
Those who see it for the first time often believe they have found the remains of an alien. Some even call the police or rescue services.

But it’s just a fungus. Alive, strange, and perhaps one of the most terrifying creatures on Earth, despite being created by nature.
Now I avoid that spot every day. I no longer water the flowers there.
Let it grow; you mustn’t touch this “devil’s gift.”
