Having an albino child is quite unusual… which makes it all the more astonishing that a Kazakh couple has had albino twin-like children born 12 years apart.
Asel and Kamila, two very different siblings, have become successful models.
At 14 years old, Asel is the older brother. Their mother, Aiman Sarkitova, was astonished to learn that her newborn daughter was albino.
«When I gave birth to my eldest, genetics wasn’t as developed in our country,» she told the Daily Mail. «It’s only developing now. The doctors were shocked.»
The fact that Kamila, their daughter, was born 12 years later with the same condition came as a real shock.
Seeing these two siblings together is so wonderful and striking that they decided to form a modeling duo.
Asel has been modeling since the age of 10, but she experienced a surge in popularity after introducing her 2-year-old younger sister. The pair now have over 33,000 followers on Instagram.
Albinism has brought them great success, but it hasn’t come without challenges. Sensitivity to sunlight and other medical issues are associated with the condition.
«If I go out in the afternoon, I always apply sunscreen, wear clothes to protect my skin, a hat, or use an umbrella,» said Asel.
«In the evening, when there’s almost no sun, it’s much easier for me.»
But no matter what challenges life brings, they face them together.
Albinos make up such a rare subgroup of the population that they can sometimes feel isolated from others of their kind, but these two sisters will always have each other.
Hopefully, the public will learn more about albinism and be inspired by the stunning beauty of these models.
«Many people don’t know what albinos are,» said Asel.
