This morning started like any other – while making the bed, I noticed something strange.
Directly under my husband’s pillow, on the mattress protector, there were tiny brown particles. Not many, but just enough to scare me.
My first thought: insect eggs. Or worse – parasites.
I got chills. Horrible scenarios ran through my mind: bed bugs, insects, unknown tropical creatures…
I rushed over to my husband to check if he had any bites or rashes – luckily, nothing suspicious. He was still half-asleep and looked at me in confusion.
Chocolate chip cookie crumbs.

I decided not to panic. I picked up one of the particles to look at it more closely. It seemed oddly thin.
I brought it up to my nose – it had a slightly sweet smell. And then I realized: these were… cookie crumbs!
Apparently, my dear husband had been snacking in bed during the night – and left a trail of crumbs behind. I laughed so hard that he fully woke up and innocently asked:
— «What’s so funny?»
— «I thought you left bed bug eggs in the bed.»
Chocolate chip cookie crumbs.
Now he’s doing the laundry and bringing me coffee. To make it up to me.
